The Clinometer is a mechanical, rugged instrument for the determination of the length of rope needed to operate towed devices at a certain depth.
The angle of inclination of the towing rope is determined by aligning the slit of the Clinometer to the towing rope. The current depth (X) of the instrument attached to the towing rope depth can be calculated by the formula:
X = metre rope x cos α.
