Operating Principle
The system operates using gas chromatography (GC) with a photoionization detector (PID) featuring a 10.6 eV UV lamp.
Ionization occurs when a molecule absorbs short-wavelength UV light, leading to ion formation:
R+hv→R++e−R + hv → R⁺ + e⁻
If the ionization potential of molecule R is equal to or lower than the photon energy hv, ionization occurs.
The PID detector contains a sealed, replaceable UV lamp that selectively emits energy. Available lamp options: 8.3 eV, 9.5 eV, 10.6 eV, and 11.7 eV.
The PID detector offers high linearity, ensuring accurate results.
