This package is part of the Viet Nam Climate Smart Coastal Communities (VNCSCC) Project, funded by the Government of Canada, which aims to enhance the resilience of vulnerable coastal communities, particularly women, to climate change while enriching marine and coastal biodiversity in Viet Nam.

To strengthen the hydro-meteorological early warning capacity in high-risk communes located in Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh, and Soc Trang provinces.
The package includes the following main components:

1. Supply and Installation of 20 Automatic Hydro-Meteorological Monitoring and Early Warning Systems (HMEWS):

  • Systems capable of automatically measuring wind, rainfall, air temperature, air pressure, or river/tide water levels.
  • Equipment includes automatic monitoring devices, information screens, and IP surveillance cameras to support the detection of potential disasters such as typhoons, floods, storm surges, heavy rainfall, strong winds, droughts, heatwaves, and damaging colds.

2. Development of Management Software for HMEWS:

  • The software will manage, control, and monitor the configurations of HMEWS, converting observational data into early warning information that is easy to understand for local communities.
  • Integration of weather forecast data from national and international agencies (e.g., Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration, Windy, NOAA).
  • Deployment of software on servers in the three provinces, complete with a tool for sending Zalo messages to disaster management officers and stakeholders.

3. Sharing Early Warning Information:

  • Early warning data from 20 HMEWS will be shared with agencies such as the Directorate of Fisheries (D-FISH), the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority (VDDMA), and the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration (VNMHA) to support disaster management and weather forecasting.

Reecotech is proud to contribute to the success of this significant project, ensuring safer and more sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities in Viet Nam.
