Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are a major contributor to air pollution, especially in urban areas and along highways. Accurate and timely measurement of NOx emissions from vehicles is crucial for controlling and reducing pollution. Airux’s Plume Chasing method offers an efficient, simple, and accurate solution for measuring NOx emissions from light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles under real-world driving conditions.
Product
ICAD NO2-NOx-NO Analyzer SERIES 210DL
ICAD NOx monitors deliver precise and rapid measurements of nitrogen oxides (NO and NO2). Independent of calibration gases, ICAD instruments are versatile, suitable for both stationary laboratory and mobile applications (cars, ships, drones). With an optional built-in CO2 sensor, ICAD enables real-time on-road emissions monitoring using plume-chasing techniques.
ICAD Advantages
- Precise NOx measurements: sub ppb sensitivity, high sampling rate
- Direct NO2 detection: free of cross sensitivities
- NO2 calibration gas not required: intrinsic NO2 calibration by molecular absorption cross section data
- Mobile and robust configuration available: temperature stabilized, IP67 rating, light weight, compact, low power consumption, optional battery operation
- Optional CO2 extension for emission measurements (e.g. automotive NOx emission factors)
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi, LAN, RS232, graphical user interface included
Open-path active remote sensing instrument
The Airyx open-path remote sensing instrument allows to monitor a wide range of atmospheric trace gases (NO2, SO2, O3, HCHO, HONO, H2O, BrO, OClO) based on the method of Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS). Light emitted by High Power LEDs (centered at 280, 325, and 365 nm wavelength) covering the UV/vis range from 280 to 380 nm are coupled into a telescope and sent through the atmosphere along light paths of lengths between several 100 m and several km. Optionally, a high-power broadband light source (LDLS) is available extending the spectral range and the maximum measurement path length. The instrument measures the average concentration along the path with high precision (sub ppb range, depending on path length) and high time resolution (few seconds, depending on visibility).
Skyspec instruments
SkySpec instruments measure ultraviolet and visible light from the sun and sky to remotely detect atmospheric pollutants like nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), formaldehyde (HCHO), ozone (O3), water vapor (H2O), and aerosols.
The motorized telescope adjusts its angle to collect data from different parts of the sky. The high-precision spectrometer analyzes the light to identify specific gases.
Our software turns the data into measurements of pollution levels, showing how much pollution is in the air and at what height.
Overview
Amidst the escalating concerns over air pollution, controlling and reducing emissions from vehicles has become an urgent task. To address this issue, the Plume Chasing (PC) method has emerged as a breakthrough solution, offering high efficiency in measuring NOx emissions.
Key Advantages of the Plume Chasing Method
- Real-time Accurate Measurements: PC enables the measurement of NOx emission factors from individual vehicles under real-world driving conditions. Unlike traditional static testing methods, PC collects continuous data and provides representative average values, accurately reflecting the impact of dynamic engine load variations.
- Plume Identification Through CO2 Signal: By simultaneously measuring NOx and CO2, this method facilitates easy identification of the emission plume through the elevated CO2 signal. The NOx/CO2 ratio provides an accurate calculation of emission factors, regardless of the dilution level of the plume.
- Rapid Detection of High Emitters: PC allows for the immediate and accurate identification of high-emitting vehicles, enabling authorities to effectively control and reduce pollution on highways and in urban areas.
Compact design
With its compact size (19″ Rack, 3HU) and low power consumption, the ICAD analyzer can be easily integrated into vehicles, enabling convenient mobile applications.
Rapid and accurate measurements
The ICAD analyzer offers fast and precise measurements of NO and NO2, enabling the detection and classification of NOx emission signatures from individual vehicles within seconds.
The integrated CO2 sensor provides accurate data for calculating NOx/CO2 emission factors, independent of signal dilution.
Easy operation
The device is controlled wirelessly via a tablet and a simple graphical user interface, allowing for easy data collection with just a few clicks.
The user interface provides information on smoke channel signal strength and emission class (EURO class). Log files are generated automatically for final reports.
Low cost and easy to install
The device does not require standard NO2/CO2 gas or consumables, reducing operating costs. It can be easily installed on all types of vehicles, saving both time and money.
Versatile application
The ICAD analyzer provides accurate measurements with zero drift or calibration, and 100% repeatability.
It can quickly and reliably identify high-emission vehicles, featuring a compact, stable design with low power consumption. Data interfaces include WiFi, LAN, Machine2Machine, RS232, and volt/cur. analysis, with up to 2 years of internal data storage.
